Hiking trip "Mount Carter"

Length of time
Distance approx.
Start at
Destination Mt. Carter approx.

This is a nice alternative to the Mt. Carter trip.

After a hearty breakfast at our base ranch we load canoe and gear in the pickup truck.

The terrain has various degrees of difficulties. In the beginning we crisscross spruce, poplar and pine forests. Some passages are covered with thick willow brushes, then all vegetation will be sparse and the view of mountains and lakes will be terrific  and impressive.
3 - 4 days
35 km
  700m above sea level
1700m above sea level

Camping gear consists of tarps, tents and sleeping bags. Our route leads us past charming mountain lakes and delivers us the cleanest water on earth.
The ascent to the summit of Mt. Carter (5854ft) is quite tedious. Your personal condition will be decisive. It is not a "must" and we will decide on the trip if - and how far we will go on  with this adventure.

Canoe tour "Snafu - Lakes"
Difference in elevation approx. 1000 m

Our trip starts from Snafu-Lake campground which is approx. 50 km distance from our base ranch and
we cover approx. 40km water way.
A leisurely start the next morning brings us back to the campground. From there we will start our next Trip the canoe adventure "Lubbock River".

Canoe adventure "Lubbock-River"
An unbelievable, fascinating small river,it connects Little Atlin Lake with Atlin Lake. Uniqueness in persona, a real challenge.

Hundreds of river bends - each filled with excitement and adventure. You will be curious to see what's around the next turn and you can't see a 100m ahead. There will be several portages. You will be surprised.

Uncounted windings give you the feeling, to have lost all sense of direction. A region of Grizzlies, Black Bears, Moose and much more.

Our Night camp is situated on a small hill.

At the inlet of Atlin Lake our truck will be parked and ready for our return to our base ranch.

We will have plenty of time for the preparation of our next trip.

Uncountable smaller and bigger lakes (with many islands) connected with small passages will await us (Beaver dams have to be mastered).
We will be rewarded with scenic shore lines.
First we will do the Northern Lakes, afterwards will explore the Southern Lakes.
Night camp will be on an island of our choice …………and simply enjoying!

Hike to "Indian Lake, McDonald Lakes, Surprise Lake"
A really extensive and varied route.

Start from our base ranch at Indian Creek.

Following the course of the Indian Creek, passing by huge Beaver dams, we will set up our first camp at the foot of an impressive canyon.

Your first hunting success can be proofed on small flying Saurians, "flattering", they're also called Mosquitoes.
There is a good chance to meet Moose, Beaver, Otter or Lynx, not to forget the Bear family.

Our first leg will be the south shore of Indian Lake. Nestling between the surrounding mountains the lake offers a view among the finest.

My partner will take care that the night camp will be full of tasty surprises, well earned for sure!

A leisurely hike or drive by truck will lead us towards Mc Donald Lakes.

On the right hand side there will be the first ascent of the day to the top of the "Sheep Mountains".

Rest and relax!

Our next destination will be Mt. Munro on the opposite side of the valley.

Our second next destination will be opposite of "Mt. Munro's" mountain range.

From here we enjoy the indescribable view of the Atlin Mountains including Llewellyn Glacier, Theresa Island (second largest fresh water island of the world), Tagish Lake, Mt. Minto ….. just to mention some.
